Logotech-4-Good Partners: First Light Child Advocacy Center
Supporting Children, Strengthening Communities
When a child experiences abuse or neglect, the road to healing begins with support, advocacy, and a safe space to tell their story. First Light Child Advocacy Center provides that space. Serving ten counties in Nebraska, they offer forensic interviews, case management, medical referrals, and advocacy to ensure children and their families receive the care they need. Their work helps reduce trauma, improve case outcomes, and connect survivors with long-term support.
Every detail matters when supporting children in crisis—even something as small as a comforting distraction. That’s why, through Logotech-4-Good, we partnered with First Light to provide resources that make their work a little easier.
A Safe Place for Healing and Advocacy
For children who have endured abuse, speaking up can be overwhelming. First Light Child Advocacy Center provides a supportive environment where survivors can share their experiences with trained professionals in a setting designed to minimize additional trauma. Their forensic interviews ensure children only have to tell their stories once, reducing stress while gathering the information needed for legal and protective action.
Beyond interviews, First Light coordinates medical referrals, mental health support, and advocacy services to help children and their families navigate the complexities of recovery. Their work bridges the gap between law enforcement, social services, and medical professionals, ensuring that every child receives the care and justice they deserve. With their reach spanning ten counties, their impact extends across Nebraska, creating safer communities and giving survivors a voice.
Logotech’s Partnership with First Light
When children enter advocacy centers, the process often feels overwhelming. First Light understands this and works to create an environment where children feel safe, heard, and supported. When they applied for the Logotech-4-Good grant, they requested items to provide calm during difficult moments.
Through our partnership, we supplied First Light with Push Pop Balls—small, engaging fidget toys designed to help ease anxiety. These simple yet effective tools offer children something to focus on during forensic interviews and advocacy sessions, helping them process their experiences with less stress.
The Role of Comfort in Advocacy
Supporting children isn’t just about resources and legal advocacy—it’s about the small moments that help children feel safe. In high-stress situations, small comfort items can provide a lifeline, helping young survivors self-regulate their emotions and focus on the support being offered.
Fidget toys like Push Pop Balls serve as more than distractions. Studies show that sensory tools can help children process trauma by giving them a physical outlet for their emotions. By incorporating these tools into their work, First Light creates an environment where children feel more at ease, allowing them to engage with advocates and receive the help they need!
Every child who walks through First Light’s doors deserves care, advocacy, and a sense of security. Their work goes beyond intervention—giving children the tools and resources they need to heal. We’re proud to support their mission through Logotech-4-Good!
