Top 5 Weird iPhone Cases

Ever wondered what makes thousands of people wait in line for hours before stores open, so they can get the latest iPhone first? Why every major tech site provides a live update of the conference when the new iPhone is unveiled? Or why there is a dating app, designed especially to match Apple fans?

The answer lies in the fact that the iPhone has turned into more of a cultural icon and a fashion accessory than a tech gadget. And now everybody wants in on that popularity. Literally thousands of companies are designing and manufacturing gadgets, accessories and cases for the iPhone in an effort to profit from its huge market share. Let's have a look at five curious iPhone cases.

The JoeyBra

You might look at this as just another quirky idea, but the fact is that the JoeyBra is the result of research, involving 200+ women of whom 95% reported having issues with storing their belongings when they were out partying. That was the cue Mariah Gentry and Kyle Bartlow, two University of Washington students, needed to come up with the JoeyBra. It looks just like a regular bra, but has two side pockets with just enough storage for your keys, ID, credit cards, even your iPhone. It only remains to be seen if you can reach out and answer your phone without being charged with public indecency.

The iPhone Hand

This is a very extraordinary idea for a phone case, to put it mildly. The iPhone hand is manufactured by a Japanese company which justifies its odd choice by pointing out to its emotional practicality you will always have a hand to hold. I guess they meant that literally, as you will probably have to hold it even if you are not talking on the phone, because forget about fitting that thing in your pocket. The case comes in two sizes a child-sized and an adult hand. Cute or creepy, you decide. Wait, why are there cops running your way?

Siri iPhone Case

Ever felt like you weren'tspending enough quality time with Siri? Or wondered what she would look like if the masterminds at Apple ever decided to make her into a hologram? Well, 3D-printing company Shapeways is way ahead of you they launched a contest for the best visual representation of Siri. It was won by SaGa Design, who came up with this somewhat creepy case of what Siri would look like if she wanted to leave the virtual premises and appropriately dubbed it Omniscient Siri. In addition, it's designed in such a way that it physically blocks your access to the screen, leaving you only with the Home button, or in other words forcing you to talk to Siri whenever you need to use your phone.

The iPhone Notebook

Another contestant for the This Will Not Fit in Your Pocket category, this case, sold by Korean studio Nothing Design Group, is cleverly designed in many ways. It has 176 pages of the A4 size and will satisfy those of you who feel nostalgic and old-fashioned, allowing you to browse on your iPhone and jot down notes below it at the same time. It also allows you to carry your phone in a spy-like fashion, if you don'tmind the bulkiness. Don't worry, the design isn't entirely impractical. There is a spot left through which you can plug in your earphones and talk without having to open the textbook and take out the phone each time you need to answer a call.

The iPhone TV Hat

Tired of nosy people staring at your iPhone screen while riding on the subway? Now you can show them with the iPhone TV hat a head-mounted case that leaves enough room between you and your iPhone, so that you can use it as a TV. It comes with a clear plastic pouch that holds your phone still and blocks ambient light, as well as a magnifying glass to adjust the screen to your preference. There's an added benefit: nothing says I don't care better than wearing one of these in public.
